Vision:

A fresh brand voice and web design fit for a hip creative agency run by a “grizzled design veteran.”

Obstacles:

Age before beauty? Memo’s principal Douglas Riccardi would say a healthy serving of both is best. But how to walk the line between youthful energy rooted in experience — that cutting edge ideas come as a result of cutting your teeth on 2 decades in the famously fickle restaurant industry?

Herein lies the challenge for many of my clients. They’ve been around the block a few times and know how to get the job done for their clients — but they’re also highly innovative, creative, and agile in their approach. They’re able to strike the rare balance between leading and responding to the market.

Conveying this competitive advantage with confidence, humility, and humor was our goal for Memo’s new brand voice and site design.

Solutions:

  • A clear brand voice that speaks with the studio’s smart and snappy tone

  • Strategic new positioning to attract Memo’s ideal clients for consulting, creative direction, and design development work

  • Concise, compelling copywriting that leads prospects to explore and take action

  • An entirely unique new web design that aligns with Memo’s brand strategy, identity, and goals for business growth

Results:

A brand voice that’s heartfelt, confident, and clever. New site messaging that positions Memo at the top-tier of strategic and creative studios serving culinary entrepreneurs and rising stars in the restaurant world. An edgy and memorable new site that lets Memo’s work speak for itself via a web design that’s equal parts hipster and retro — because why not both?

We’ve been struggling for a while to effectively communicate both our services offering as well as our unique studio personality. And what made this process harder for us is that it seemed that only we (internally) could figure this out. Wrong! Hiring Emily was a game changer for us. Her ability to channel our vibe and approach and create a really engaging expression of both still astounds me. I can unequivocally say Emily exceeded every expectation we had.
