Vision:

A first website that highlights Trish’s talents and services in a clear, confident presentation to her dream clients

Obstacles:

Trish is incredibly humble; finding a way to represent her significant talents with subtlety and grace.

Trish is amazing. She’s photographed Barack Obama, the Philadelphia Eagles, and regularly works with Anthropologie. She’s also hard-working, conscientious, meticulously detail-oriented, and super fun to work with (she took my headshots)!

And yet Trish refused to highlight her many positive attributes on her website when we first began clarifying her site’s strategy — for fear of bragging. As a result, we needed to find a way to adequately express her skills and services, that compelled her ideal clients to get in touch, while making sure Trish was completely comfortable with how she came across.

Challenge accepted, Trish! Gracefully bragging about my clients is my favorite past time.

Solutions:

Brand positioning, website writing, and custom Squarespace design

We started with Clarity Sessions that dug into Trish’s goals for her website, brand, and business. We knew we wanted to express the following through positioning:

  • Trish’s ideal services. While she’s a talented photographer, we discovered that she loves her work as an editor and retoucher for other photographers. That’s the primary business she wants to build. Clarifying who Trish’s ideal client was — and the work she wants to do more of (and less of) — enabled the other parts of the puzzle to click together.

  • Trish’s area of specialty as a photographer. Again, we pinpointed her ideal clients: personal branding imagery for small businesses. Articulating this niche helped Trish feel more comfortable about presenting herself as a photographer secondarily, while we highlighted her editing services

  • Trish’s work process and style. By focusing Trish’s copy on these elements of her work — excellent service and work product she takes great pride in — we were able to “back into” talking about why a photographer should hire Trish! It was more comfortable to her to highlight her portfolio and talk about her process, so we designed a site around doing that. The proof is in the pudding!

Success!

Crisp, clean, and compulsively minimal, Trish’s new site brings her brand alive online. It highlights her immense talents gracefully, offers her services graciously, and presents the full picture of her business tastefully. Mission accomplished!

View Trish’s site here, which may include updates made by Trish since our work together completed.

Thank you for your organization, patience, promptness, and overall amazingness!
